AJW 11/2/1992 - Tag Leauge The Best Part 2

- Etsuko Mita vs Cynthia Moreno

Weird match. Starts out average then keeps going and going and going to the point whear it's like OK now this shit is boring and then kind of claws it's way out of the hole it dug back to being almost average but it's too little too late save things. Wasn't exactly exspecting these 2 to light the world on fire but on paper this is a match that should have been a lot better. Mita got the win with a fucking airplane spin out of nowhear after 11 mins that felt twice as long. Practically a squash for Mita as she took like 90% of the offense but most of what she did felt like she was just toying with Moreno, no killer instinct destructo moments that make for a fun squash like you'd get from a Bull or Hokuto or Aja. The little bit of Moreno offense wasn't particularly interesting either and in a Botchamania moment they screw up a simple cross body spot as Mita moved and Moreno says fuck it and does the move anyways even though Mita was clearly standing 5-6 feet away allready. Dunno who made the call or why but the decision to strip Cynthia of almost all her cool lucha style stuff and have her work a really generic joshi style was not a good one. Most interesting thing I got out of this was noticing Mita's missing one of her front teeth. No clue when that happened but i'm guessing a while ago as she has a fake one she wore for the pre and post match promos.

- Miori Kamiya vs Mima Shimoda

Breath of fresh air compared to the last match. Not really a sprint but they work at a decently fast pace for a lot of this and put a lot of energy and emotion into things. Came across like they were actually in, ya know, a fight that they were trying to win as opposed to just going through the motions and killing time. Lots of back and forth to start until Kamiya gains controll. She dominates for a while kicking Mima around and getting the better of her in the brawling section which just serves to piss Shimoda off. She eventually takes over after a nifty little comeback and then takes things back outside for revenge though it backfired a little. Kamiya grabs random stuff from the crowd and blast away at her. Always a fun time when someone gets a backback chucked at their skull. Little more back and forth stuff inside before Mima gets the flash win with a backslide. Nothing great i'll remember a week from now but this was enjoyable.

- (Tag Leauge The Best 92) Bat Yoshinaga & Tomoko Watanabe vs Yumiko Hotta & Suzuka Minami

On paper Hotta & Suzuka are the stronger team but they work this almost as equals on the same level going at it. They did it in a way whear it elevated Bat & Wat rather then lessening Hotta & Minami too. Everyone here matches up real well style wise as well so it made for a good match. Bat is always fun playing opposite Hotta and Bat & Minami was good too. These 2 teams had a match earlier in the year that saw Watanabe playing weak link role but she really steped it up here. She got scrubed out a little in the begining but aside from that was by and large competitive for the rest of the match. Created some nice drama as for a second you almost think the Goku team can pull out the win and much like in their match with Toyota & Yamada, it puts over Hotta & Suzuka as being the better wrestlers when they do eventually get the win after Suzuka dodges an attack from Watanabe and catches her with a german. Really liked this a lot.

- Takako Inoue vs Kaoru Ito

Interesting match. Takako is in somewhat submission queen mode and tries to tell a bit of a story here, spending a lot of time putting Ito in various holds but Ito really struggles to put it over. This somewhat came up in her match with Sakie earlier in the year but the limbwork wasn't as big of a focus in that one. Here whear it makes up a lot match it really exsposes a flaw in Ito's game as not that great of a seller. Pretty much she forgets everything once it's her turn to go on offense and starts running around like she's fine. She hits all her stuff well but that's never been a prob for her and I guess since most of her matches are tags it was easier for her to shine in that environment. Takako takes back over near the end, tossing Ito around and wins it with her shoulder drop suplex.

- (Tag Leauge The Best 92) Manami Toyota & Toshiyo Yamada vs Sakie Hasegawa & Debbie Malenko

Debbie the wise to Sakie pre match promo "I have no idea what you said but i'm sure I agree with it". 1st half or so of this match they go back and forth trading off who's in controll. Everyone in the match takes a turn getting beat up for an exstended period of time which i've started to really dig as a way to keep things interesting & fresh when you're going long. They work things at a pretty even pace and stay on the same page too with even Toyota reigning herself in a little bit and resisting the urge to just massively spaz out as she's want to do. They kick it up a notch around the 20 min mark with Toyota & Yamada breaking out a long stretch of double teams and big moves as Toyota finally gets to go nuts and release all her built up energy. Every time they look to finish Debbie though Sakie's able to rush in to make the save. For really the only time in the match they kind of give away that this is ending in a draw as like 25 mins in Sakie starts working a camel clutch spot, slowing down the momentum but that doesn't last too long and they go right back working the near falls. Fun moment as the crowd, which has been kind of quiet tonight starts really getting into things and hoping for an upset win so they start booing the heck out of Yamada & Toyota for breaking up all of Sakie & Debs pinfall or submission attempts. Sakie goes all exploder crazy on Yamada and almost gets the win but alas time exspires, and fuck, they even had me screaming "come on, you can do it :)" near the end hoping they'd pull out the victory. Debbie the wise post match promo "definatly a rush, a team with no belts going against a team with 2 belts and going to a time limit draw, thats something to say, I think next time we might get em" Really good match that managed to avoid suffering from a lot of the issues that often crop up when going the time limit

- Aja Kong & Kyoko Inoue vs Bull Nakano & Akira Hokuto

Early portion saw Bull schooling Kyoko as her & Hokuto beat up on her for the first few mins. Nice reminder that she's still the lowest ranked one in this match. Kyoko comes back eventually and breaks out the never ending giant swing on Hokuto which is always a cool move then it's Hokuto's turn to play whiping girl for a bit. Aja & Bull don't have too much interaction in this but when they do they have a nice little battle of the big girls moment. The near fall stretch was really good and things finally end around 18 mins in with Hokuto eating a sort of Doomsday Device afer Kyoko elbows her off Aja's shoulders. Post match Aja gets on the mic to talk shit on Bull. Not a lot to say about this, kind of a really good house show match if that makes sense. They didn't half ass things or work lazy in any way but you could tell they weren't going all out either. Served as a nice preview for Dream Rush.
