AJW TV 9/11/1992

- Kyoko Inoue, Takako Inoue & Mariko Yoshida vs Suzuka Minami, Debbie Malenko & Cynthia Moreno
The tye dye princesses back in full force vs your usual assortment of chicks we've got nothing better to do with so let's toss em in a random 6 man. Short little beat down section on Yoshida starts this off. Suzuka's shoulder senton is so the coolest triple team move ever. Cut to the dive train sequence which was pretty fun, Kyoko press slams Moreno to the outside on all her partners in one highlight. Yoshida botches a few moves, maybe getting knocked a little silly on one of dives but she recovers quickly and it's nothing major. Match then becomes the usual array of people tossing out big move bombs until Kyoko unleases her nuclear weapon Niagra Driver upon an unsuspecting Debbie Malenko to win this. Nothing special in the grand scheme of things but a nice match with a lot of fun moments.

- (CMLL Women's Title) Bull Nakano (c) vs Yumiko Hotta
Heh, quite the creepy smile on Bull's face as she makes her way to the ring, ready to fuck some shit up i'm assuming. Interesting match here as Hotta steps her game up again. Most of this match was a really fun slug fest but it all fell apart by the end. Hotta screws up a suplex on Bull from the top rope nearly killing her, then she almost drops Bull on her head, barely getting her up for a sloppy power bomb. Bull kicks out and out of nowhear after missing a kick, Bull grabs her leg and stretches her all to hell for the insta submission. Entire match only went 11-12 mins and they only aired a little less then half of it. Good up until the crap ending.

Creepy Japanese commercial report. A family of monkeys do naughty naughty things :)

- Aja Kong & Sakie Hasegawa vs Manami Toyota & Toshiyo Yamada
Funny moment as Aja gets in a legit fight with some female fan during her entrance. Dunno what prompted it but Aja smacked her ass with the can before she got drug away. Pissed off after this occurance, Aja destroys like 10 rows of chairs before even making it to the ring. 2nd funny moment as we start the match. Yamada & Sakie square off, Yamada beats the snot out of Sakie, Aja tags in and mauls Yamada, tags back in Sakie who imediatly gets punted in the face and then Toyota runs wild on her with drop kicks. Hmmm, wonder what the story of this match will be??? Anyways, after Sakie takes a little more beating Aja gets fed up with that shit and starts smashing heads in with her can and chairs and whatever else she can grab. Fight goes outside and Aja pretty much single handidly destroys both the tag champs, beating them like their name was Takako. Aja accidently smashes Sakie with a can shot allowing Toyota & Yamada to make a come back. Yamada comes up with the brilliant strategy of trying to beat Aja by kicking her in the head really hard a whole bunch of times which works quite well for her. They hit her with a buncha double teams but still can't get the win and then they kick things into high gear for the finish with a million near falls and the like. Aja gets the sort of surprise victory by choke slaming Toyota to hell, pining her for the 2nd in 2 weeks in a row in a high profile match. Sort of surprising because really now boys & girls, raise your hand if you thought for sure Sakie was eating the pin in this one. Aja smiles that "gotcha bitch" smile in celebration. Gotta hand it to AJW, when they want you to know who the better wrestler is, they make damn sure you know it. Really good match, around 20+ mins, half aired.

AJW 8/30/1992

- Tomoko Watanabe & Bat Yoshinaga vs Cynthia Moreno & Rie Tamada

Largely a drawn out squash for the Goku Soldiers. Moreno gets a little bit in here and thear but can't do too much and they toss little Rie around for much of the time she's in thear. Not exactly the most exciting stuff in the world but this was servicable enough. Bat attempting to commit homicide, spin kicking girls in the mouth never gets old atleast. The crowd lets out a cry which I imagine is the Japanese equivilent of "oh shit" as she hits knocks Cynthis the fug out to win this one.

- Debbie Malenko & Takako Inoue vs Miori Kamiya & Kaoru Ito

Super fun match. Starts a little slow but mid way one of the bars that holds the ropes snaps with a loud pop that sounded like a bomb went off, after that things pick up. Gimpy ropes doesn't stop anyone from hiting them full force the rest of the match though as they start stretching like rubber bands. Doesn't seem like the wisest move but hey, their slogan wasn't victory through no guts. Real nice section of submission stuff from everyone after that and then we get your standard big section of near falls & high spots. Comes down to Takako & Ito rippping things up as it almost looks like Ito is going to get the big win after a bunch of footstomps but Debbie puts an end to that cutting her off and allowing Tak to come back and finish things with her shoulder suplex.

- (JGP 92) Mariko Yoshida vs Kyoko Inoue

Kyoko & Yoshida tied for points going into this so we get a play off match to determine who goes on to the semi finals of their block later tonight. Yoshida chant to start as the Mariko fan club is once again in full effect at here at K-Hall. First half or so of this is all mat work goodness that sees Kyoko gets the advantage, long section of her working over Yoshida's back & legs. Both of them taking things a lot more seriously then their match earlier in the tournament. The action picks up once the match goes out to the floor. Kyoko hits her insane nestea plunge like backwards dive which also ends up hurting her allowing Yoshida to finally make her come back and hit a few dives of her own. Crazy stretch of big moves follows, big Yoshida chant again breaks out as the fans are going nuts for this match and in the end they get their wish as Yoshida hits a run up sunset flip out of nowhear to gain the vicotry. Huge win for her, knocking off last years winner. Really good match, not sure if I like this more then the 30 min draw or not. It's close but eh, if I had to choose I might go with this one.

- Bull Nakano, Yumiko Hotta & Suzuka Minami vs Akira Hokuto, Etsuko Mita & Mima Shimoda

Nice to see LCO finally got a day off to take Mima shoping at the bitch heel emporium and pick her up some new gear. Earlier in the night it got anounced that Hotta & Suzuka were going to be the latest to get a tour of Mexico, oddly huge amount of streamers for Hotta tonight. A good half the roster has to have gone down thear by now, I really gotta check and see if any of their stuff made CMLL tv one day. On to the match, holy shit this ruled. Just an intense fucking WAR from bell to bell. Megumi Kudo & Combat Toyoda are sitting ringside for this as they've got an upcoming tag in FMW vs Bull & Hokuto so both of them are extra amped tonight. Hokuto is just tearing things up left & right, Mima & Mita are doing their damndest to keep up. Hotta really steped up her shit big time here, working really crisp & hitting some big high spots you don't usually see including some lucha dives. Cool to see as Hotta hasn't done much of anything of note in quite a while. Suzuka almost stole the show herself and also steped things up big time with her power stuff, tossing people all over the place with suplexes and power bombs and stuff. Really cool moment as Bull & Hotta lift one of LCO up on their shoulders and Suzuka hits a flying senton on her from that position. Lastly Bull was in full on monster mode here, double suplexes, lariats from the deepest level of hell, destroying all in her path. For the finish Mima eats a lariat from her straight into Suzuka's waiting arms who bridges back into a german for the win. This was really similar to the famous LCO vs LLPW 6 woman tag from Jan 93 and might even be better. For sure one of the top matches this year, just awesome stuff. Post match after beating the hell out of each other Bull & Hokuto unite and talk smack to the visiting dignitaries from FMW letting them know shits on.

- (JGP 92 Semi Final) Aja Kong vs Toshiyo Yamada

Heh, funny as hell that if you google image search "E-Honda palm strikes" the 2nd picture that shows up links to my blog now, tremendous. A-Honda starts this shindig off with just that, spazing out upon miss Yamada's face with the most painful game of patty-cake you could imagine. All down hill for Toshiyo after that, she eats a million foot stomps, has her head used as a battering ram and all around gets a general butt whopin here. Yamada tries to fight back a little, she gets in a hip toss which Aja somehow manages to counter by biting her in the stomach, leaving a nice face print upon her tummy in the process. Match goes outside and K-hall turns into one big play pen for Aja who's in a giving mood tonight. Chairs, garbage cans, doors, rails, tables, some old woman's freakin purse. Aja gladly shares all her toys with Yamada, busting her open in the process getting blood everywhear. Even tosses Yamada down a flight of stairs just because. Back in the ring Yamada finally gets fired up and fights back, she gets Aja down on the ground and soccer kicks the heck out of her skull but then makes a mistake trying to follow that up with some leg work. Aja gets up saying something about not bringing knives to gunfights and leg locks to your death sentence. Don't speak Japanese so couldn't tell for sure. More weapon shots come Yamada's way but she's till in the fight and makes one more little come back. Diving enzu can't get it, huge uraken from Yamada can't get it, try try...fail. Aja shows Yamada how a back fist is done, crushes her with the back drop smash off the top and hits the diving back elbow because she can putting an end to this. Great stuff here, pissed off surly Aja always rules.

- (JGP 92 Semi Final) Manami Toyota vs Mariko Yoshida

Picture's worth 1000 words and the pouty look on Kyoko's face as she sits on the sidelines doing commentary for this says it all about what she's thinking. Basic speed/flash vs technical battle to start this off which sees Yoshida come out on the winning side as she steals Kyoko's strategy from earlier and works over Toyota's back & legs for a while. As she's want to do on many an ocasion, Toyota says screw that mess and once given the chance turns things into her "style" of match. This would be a really annoying trait to have except that 99% of the time her style of match usually kicks ass so she can get away with it and this was no exception. Yoshida, can more then keep up with her in that department and infact ends up outshining Toyota here and regains controll of the match. Match then becomes a super long stretch of near falls as they bust out every suplex, dive and cradle you can imagine. Big highlight for me was watching them bust out the Malenko/Guerrero roll up spot years before Malenko & Guerrero were doing it. Fans not particularly cheering on either one in this match but they're popping huge for all the big moves making for a great atmosphere. Toyota plays dream crusher tonight and puts away Yoshida to win with a hamerlock german suplex. Post match Yoshida does get a huge amount of cheers from the crowd for her effort while Toyota waste no time on celebrating as she rushes to the back knowing she's going to have to come out again next. Another really good match.

- (JGP 92 FINAL) Aja Kong vs Manami Toyota

Match starts before they can even get in the ring as Toyota jumps her in the aisle and they start fighting through the crowd. Or, well, maybe fighting is the wrong word as that would imply equality, imply that they're attacking each other and there's none of that here. What I should say is Aja starts beating her ass through the crowd, giving her some of what Yamada got. Slows down a little once they eventually make it to the ring as Aja works a bunch of wear down holds. Toyota tries to make a come back but nothing she can come up with work. Toyota goes for a big move and Aja counters it, Toyota hits a big strike and Aja just shrugs it off, Toyota goes for a hold and Aja escapes. Fortuna is not smiling upon Ignatius M Toyota tonight, not at all. Finish sees Toyota go for the moonsault only to eat knee, Aja goes for the back drop smash which Toyota rolls through on trying for a power bomb but Aja just drops that ass, bonzai style and a few moments later a rather nasty choke slam puts her away for the 3. I've probably seen atleast 11 or 12 Aja vs Toyota singles matches now and i'd say this one is firmly in the middle of the pack but hey, middle of the pack Aja/Toyota is still pretty darn good. Post match Toyota bows to the mastah out of respect. Little bit later they also bring Yoshida into the ring to give her what i'm guessing is the MVP award for the tournament which she's quite deserving of. Aja having won the big prize congrajulates her and gladly shares the spotlight.

AJW's JGP final shows are always some of the best of the year and this is no exception

AJW 8/15/1992

- Rie Tamada & Chikako Hasegawa vs Akemi Torisu & Seimi Numata
Boy, been a while since we've had an all young girls match make tape. Good or bad depending on how you want to look at it, around this time the rookies were usually edited off most of the tv and comm releases if they were even booked on those shows at all to begin with. Here it is a year or so into her career give or take a few months and this is only the 3rd time a Rie Tamada match has aired for example. They kept this short and fast paced, or atleast as fast as you're gonna get from these 4 which is about all you can hope for with a match like this. Action was actually fairly decent with Numatchi being the one who got to shine as she was all fired up tonight. Doesn't do her any good though in the end as Tamada gets the W on her after a buncha drop kicks. Just because, her & Goddess in training get in a few cheap shots post match too on her.

- Miori Kamiya & Terri Power vs Tomoko Watanabe & Kumiko Maekawa
One of my fav tag teams ever, years before they were ever reg partners Maekawa & Watanabe teaming up for I believe the 1st time ever here. 1st time getting to see a full match of Maekawa's after making her debut 10 months ago and it's quite the memorable one for sure. This of course the infamous match whear THIS took place

Match actually wasn't that bad for the first 2/3 of it, Kamiya & Tomoko did some decent stuff, Maekawa looked ok and Terri was fine up until the last stretch whear things just massively fell apart thanks to her. Terri still gets the win though after Kamiya hits Watanabe with a splash and Terri follows it up with a really weird & over the top silly looking elbow drop on Watanabe.
- Kaoru Ito vs Bat Yoshinaga
Cool little matchup designed to get Ito over as being the tough spunky youngster who won't quit. Bat dominates almost the whole match, in full on wrecking ball mode, killing her with spin kicks and the like but Ito keeps fighting back and won't stay down. Ito finally gains enough momentum to hit a train of 4-5 running footstomps and is able to barely edge out the victory following one last big top rope one. Fun stuff.

- Kyoko Inoue, Takako Inoue & Mariko Yoshida vs Cynthia Moreno, Etsuko Mita & Mima Shimoda
Heh, Dudley Sisters in the house tonight. Early on starts with a long LCO beat down on Yoshida with Moreno having no problem bitching it up to join in on the fun. When Takako gets taged in things switch up though as her & Moreno go all luchadora on each other for a nice segment. After that the rest of the match is worked sprint style as W-InoueYo go all high spot crazy. A short segment sees LCO try and slow things down after a big dive train sequence, attempting to go after Yoshida's arm but that doesn't last long and then it's right back to the near falls. Eventually comes down to Mita & Kyoko 1 on 1 with Kyoko putting her away with the Niagra Driver. Really good match.

- (Fuji TV Tag Tournament FINAL) Bull Nakano & Aja Kong vs Toshiyo Yamada & Akira Hokuto
A match they've been building up to heavily over the past few shows. It's enemies now friends Aja & Bull vs friends or atleast people who were on friendly enough terms now enemies Hokuto & Yamada. They waste no time selling you on this story in case you didn't know going in as Hokuto & Yamada get in a fight before the match even starts during pre match interviews. Meanwhile Aja & Bull are on the same page and act all stoic and scary in the back or atleast try to. In a funny moment you can actually see Aja half crack a smile while trying to mean mug the camera. Aja & Bull get straight to it as the match starts, they both bust out with Aja's sig palm strikes and follow it up with a bunch more double teams. Yamada gets mauled for a while only managing to lightly fight back. She gets in a small cradle which Aja counters by biting her in the stomach, yup, not going to be a good night for her tonight. Hokuto comes in and fares little better against the 2 monsters so she decides to grab a weapon to even things up a bit because really, when you're fighting Aja Kong & Bull Nakano at the same time it's only fair that you should be allowed to use a kendo stick or 2 or a gun, either or. Goody goody Yamada objects to this plan and gets in an argument with her partner, telling her to knock it off. Yamada hops back in and is like "I got this" and wails away with some quite stiff leg kicks on Bull, actually managing to get her down and follow it up with a few submission attempts. Hokuto again comes in and again Bull & Aja kick her butt so again she goes for the Kendo stick with Yamada trying to stop her, this time leading to a brawl between the tag partners. Aja & Bull take advantage and crush the pair with dives as things break down into a chaotic arena brawl. Hokuto eats a piledriver through the announcers table in a highlight. Back inside more fighting between Hokuto & Yamada leads to Aja cracking them both with trash can shots. Little later Yamada's had enough of this shit and short arms Hokuto on the tag, refusing to get in making Hokuto fight it alone for a bit. She actually manages to drop Bull with the NLB but it's not enough to win. Yamada finally comes back in only with no tag as aparently the ref decideds "fuck it, go ahead anyways kid" and doesn't make her leave the ring. She cleans house and Hokuto actually helps her out and it looks like they may finally be working things out but that doesn't last long, Yamada to accidently hit her with the diving enzugiri. Bull & Aja then toss Yamada aside and follow up on Hokuto, Bull hits her guiloteen leg drop and then tells Aja to go up top and HOLY SHIT, she hits a flying leg drop of her own and yeah, no one is getting up from that. Gigantic celebration post match with hugs and smiles all around as the crowd goes ape shit. Once she regains conciousness Hokuto goes after Yamada one more time and they brawl to the back at which poing Aja gets on the mic and says I believe "hey you 2, stop fucking up our victory party" and then the celebration continues. Aja & Bull congragulate each other for a job well, declare they will dominate over the entire tag division now and agree to be bffs for life. Course, Aja also reminds Bull she's coming for her 3WA title too but Bull just smiles and is like "Nawwwwwwww, don't think so". Amazing match, great wrestling, great story. AJW really was one of the best booked promotions in the world at this time.

   - (IWA Title - Hair vs Hair) Manami Toyota (c) vs Toshiyo Yamada
One of the most famous matches in wrestling history so doesn't need much detailed play by play from me on this one :) I suspect most people reading this have allready seen it and if you haven't then WTF? GO WATCH IT NOW. It's by far deserving all of the praise it's gotten over the years. Aside from a small slower paced section in the middle of the match this is 20+ mins of non stop, all out high end action with a super hot crowd going nuts throughout cheering on both though you can actually tell they'd rather see Toyota win even if they do love Yamada too. In the end it comes down to a battle of the Japanese Ocean Cyclone Suplex vs The Gori Special Bomb with both attempting to hit their big moves and playing off their previous match, this time it's Toyota who has Yamada's figured out as she manages to escape and hit the JOCS to win. You know, following this whole story from the start, Toyota really comes across like an ass in this whole thing. It all started because Toyota couldn't handle losing so she snaped and challenged one of her best friends in the world and tag team partner not only for her title but for her hair, really out of nothing more then jealousy and ego. Knowing this, it kind of explains the post match as Toyota snaps again with the gravity of what she's done finally hitting her. There was no need for it to have come to this. Toyota breaks down, attempts to cut her own hair instead and desperatly tries to prevent the barber from shaving Yamada only to be held down by 6 or 7 other girls as it happens. One of the more emotional sceens you'll ever see in a wrestling ring. Course, knowing that Chigusa was her idol, you know deep down Yamada was probably loving every second of this too.

AJW TV 8/13/1992

Pretty cool looking building they're running for this taping with the all red carpeting. Don't recall ever seeing this one used before

- Kyoko Inoue & Terri Power vs Manami Toyota & Mima Shimoda
Terri Power appears to be slowly morphing into a mummy as the days go by here. Now in addition to having her knee taped she's got her arm & shoulder wraped up too. Sweethearts work it over for a little bit at the start of the match but it proves to be a failed game plan and doesn't amount to much. The rest of the match is your basic back & forth stuff. Mima looked quite good here as she's upping the bitch factor now that she's rolling with LCO. Toyota & Kyoko have a short but nice section doing their usual stuff here too. And Terri, well, she didn't mess anything up and was mostly fine for her part. Final stretch looks to be a repeat of 8/9 as Kyoko gets isolated for a good while, fighting 2 on 1 with Terri only coming in to make short saves. This time though things end diffrently after Toyota & Terri end up fighting outside, Kyoko is able to come out the winner over Mima, droping her pretty hard with the Niagra Driver. Post match Terri gushes about what a genius Kyoko is. Pretty decent match, about 1/2 shown.

- (Fuji TV Tag Tournament R3) Akira Hokuto & Toshiyo Yamada vs Mariko Yoshida & Sakie Hasegawa
Sakie & Yamada start and right away Sakie goes on a spin kick run. Hokuto tags in and let's Sakie know she's got kicks of her own, to the face then dumps her with a pretty nasty looking backdrop suplex. Sakie can't get up so Yoshida rushes in to try and save her and promptly gets her butt kicked for the effort. Dagerous Queen is not a merry old soul, instead of calling for her pipe her bowl and some fiddlers she calls for her kendo stick and canes the heck out of Yoshida. Yamada, being the good little girl she is does not approve of these shenanigans and goes to put a stop to her tag parters wicked ways which just leads to a fight breaking out between them instead. Once broken up Hokuto goes back to beat on Sakie some more but is draged away by the ref who calls for the bell just a couple mins into the match as Sakie appears to have injured her back. All hell breaks out as Yoshida throws a monster fit, protesting to anyone who'll listen then getting on the mic, swearing revenge on Hokuto and calling for the match to be restarted so she can fight them 2 on 1. Don't think i've ever seen her this angry before. Hokuto & Yamada who'd allready walked to the back return and the ref is like fuck it, ring the bell. Yoshida & Yamada go at it for a few seconds with Yoshida getting the better of the exchange so again, Hokuto, not in the mood to deal with this shit tags in, slaps the heck out of Yoshida and kills her with the NLB. Lesson of the day #1 - be careful what you wish for kids, Lesson of the day #2 - don't fuck with Akira Hokuto. Post match Hokuto starts beating away with the kendo stick again and another fight breaks out between her & Yamada with Yamada this time eating a few cane shots herself. No post match interview for the pair as a fight breaks out backstage as well. Nothing as a match but amazingly great as an angle.

- Bull Nakano, Bat Yoshinaga & Tomoko Watanabe vs Aja Kong, Kaoru Ito & Miori Kamiya
Ahhhhh, been a while since we've had a good Jungle Jack vs Gokumonto war. After dominating half of 90 and all of 91 they cooled off the feud a little in 92, only going back to it here & thear but a little bit of the hatred still remains. Match starts pretty normal, the usual low level joshi action for and then Aja & Bull go at it and freakin chaos erupts. They go all immovable object vs irresistible force to start and then things turn into a whild brawl with all 6 going at it outside. Chairs start flying, tables get broke, heads get smashed, a good time is had by all...or atleast me as i'm loving this. Settles down eventually for a short time with Watanabe & Bat playing whiping girl but Watanabe makes her comeback spazing out on Kamiya with her mad Judo skilz and chaos erupts again, this time mainly confined to in ring however. Aja & Ito bust out some clubberin on Bull and in a cool moment later on, hit her with locomotion foot stomps and splashes. Just when things are looking good though, Bull ducks a uraken and she takes Ito's head off instead allowing Bull to get the pin as Bat & Wat run interferance. Post match, Bull reminds Aja that oh yeah, they kind of have to team up in 2 days for the tag tournament and calls for a truce. Aja after throwing a little fit, surprisingly agrees and they shake hands to end things. The Aja/Bull singles rivalry wasn't quite over yet, they'd meet a couple more times later in the year but for all intents and purposes this was the last of the JJ vs Goku tags (that made tape atleast). Not the best match between the 2 factions or anything but a nice swan song none the less and a darn good match. Nice reminder of why this was one of the best feuds in wrestling history.
